Vincent D. Cullen, CPA

Mr. Vincent D. Cullen, CPA

Vinnie was a graduate of Chaminade High School in Mineloa and received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Dowling College. In 2010 he received his MBA from Stony Brook University, where he was an adjunct accounting professor for 5 years. He was a founding partner of Cullen & Danowski and practiced accounting for over 35 years.

In 1992 Vinnie joined the Little Flower Children and Family Services Agency Board and then became a member of the Little Flower School Board in 1998. He was a steadfast champion of Little Flower’s work and mission from that moment, becoming the first recipient of the Monsignor John T. Fagan Service Award in 2013. From 1994-1995, Vinnie was president of the Suffolk Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, and he was a longstanding member of the Public School Accounting Committee for the NYSSCPA, serving as chairman from 1996-1998. In 1999 he was recipient of the Stony Brook Soccer Club "Volunteer of the Year Award," where he had coached for 12 years, and he also received the Suffolk County Boy Scouts Council "Silver Beaver Award," in recognition of his 20 years as a board member. In 2010, he received SCOPE’s distinguished board member award for his service. He was an accomplished speaker for the NYS School Boards Association, the Association of School Business Officials, the State Society and for many other organizations on a variety of topics.

In December 2011, Vinnie was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). From the first moment there was an outpouring of support from family, friends, colleagues and peers. Having so much support enabled the ALS Walk team ‘Cullen’s Crusaders’ to be born. Vinnie's commitment to helping others was such that he asked that the main purpose of Cullen's Crusaders was to be raising awareness for others.

In September 2012, Cullen’s Crusaders became the largest ALS walk team not only in the entire country, but the largest walk team the ALS Association has ever had. With over 400 walkers, Cullen's Crusaders raised over $130,000, more than any team in the Greater NY area.

On May 9, 2013, due to complications from ALS, Vinnie passed away.
